Lecheng’s special framework allows approved institutions to use certain clinically urgent imported medicines and medical devices that have been marketed overseas but are not yet registered for ordinary use across China.

By early 2026, official Hainan reporting said more than 540 urgently needed imported drugs and devices had achieved first use in China through Lecheng.

Before booking flights, patients should send their diagnosis, pathology, imaging, treatment history and current medication list to the relevant medical institution. The clinical team can then determine whether a specific Lecheng pathway is appropriate.
